Microplastics in Remote Boreal Lakes
A study led by researcher Haley McIlwraith at IISD-Experimental Lakes Area found microplastic contamination in remote boreal lakes. Samples from 9 lakes revealed microplastics, mainly fibers, thought to originate from atmospheric deposition.

2024 Annual Team Workshop
The annual gathering of the pELAstic team in Toronto drew 30 participants from across North America. Discussions centered on microplastics’ behavior and impact in freshwater environments. The workshop included a tour of the Rochman Lab to understand microplastic processing and ended with a team-bonding game of bowling.
